When it comes to pets, the most important factor when considering dosage is the size of your pet and what ailments you’re trying to treat.
We’ll give a general overview of the types of pets and how much Hemp Oil you should give them, before getting into the various factors below.
Dogs & Cats
Dogs and cats are the most common pets owned, so it makes sense they’re the most common animal to consume Hemp Oil or hemp products. Again, before giving your dog or cat Hemp Oil, you should consider what exactly you’re giving Hemp Oil to your pet for.
Pets under 10 Kg should start with 2 to 3 drops (0.1ml), 3 to 4 times daily. Pets over 10 Kg should start with 3-4 drops (0.1ml) at a time, 3-4 times per day.
Of course, your pet’s Hemp Oil dose won’t be a one-size-fits-all type of equation. This is because your pet’s needs will differ from day to day. For example, if your dog suffers from joint problems and you want to take him on a hike, you may want to give him a few extra ml of Hemp Oil.
On the other hand, a dog with anxiety may need a much larger dose when traveling or on a road trip. Knowing the needs of your pet and how they respond at different dosages is crucial to the ongoing treatment process. But you may not just have dogs and cats. We’ll discuss other animals below.
When it comes to horses, Hemp Oil can be used for a lot of different things. If your horse is not a performance horse, we recommend starting them at 15 drops (0.5ml) three times per day for general health, anxiety, and anti-aging. For chronic pain, much more Hemp Oil oil for horses can be used depending on the severity.
For small animals such as rats, ferrets, gerbils, chinchillas, and rabbits, you can rest easy knowing that Hemp Oil has been proven effective on these animals as well. In fact, Hemp Oil has been used to cure cancer, diabetes, tumors, anxiety, and inflammation in lab animal (such as rats).
For example, one study done on rats found a sharp decrease in anxiety when given Hemp Oil. These doses of Hemp Oil were quite high, with the lowest being around 3 mg per pound of body weight, but for the average pet, a much lower dose can be used.
We recommend starting your small pets off at 2-3 drops (0.1ml) at a time, 3-4 times per day, and working up to a higher amount once they’ve grown accustomed to it. As always, watch your pet to gauge the effects and change the dose accordingly.
A Healthy Pet is a Happy Pet
